Kirklees Council Tipper Fleet
Kirklees Council is the local authority serving the borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire. The council delivers a wide range of public services including environmental services, waste management, highways maintenance and community support.
To support these services, the council relies on a large and diverse fleet of vehicles designed to carry out operational tasks efficiently across the region.
The Challenge
Kirklees Council required a batch of tipper vehicles specifically configured for waste and fly-tipping collection.
The vehicles needed to provide strong, durable storage solutions while also maintaining a high payload capacity so that operational teams could transport waste and materials efficiently throughout the day.
As part of an ongoing fleet programme, the vehicles also needed to be built to a consistent standard that aligned with the council’s existing fleet.
What We Did
MIS Conversions has built hundreds of vehicles for Kirklees Council over many years, ranging from small panel van conversions through to full chassis builds.
For this particular project, MIS designed and delivered a batch of tipper van conversions fitted with bespoke aluminium cages, specifically developed for waste and fly-tipping collection duties.
The aluminium cages were chosen because they provide:
- Lower overall vehicle weight
- Increased payload capacity
- Strong and durable construction for daily operational use
Each vehicle was built to ensure practicality, reliability and long-term performance for council teams working across the borough.
The Result
The result was a fleet of purpose-built tipper vehicles ready to support Kirklees Council’s environmental and waste collection services.
By combining lightweight aluminium cage structures with durable tipper bodies, the vehicles provide improved payload capacity while remaining robust enough to handle the demands of daily waste collection and fly-tipping operations.
